Eurocopter is transferring all necessary technology and Intellectual Property to Australian industry to enable customisation, support, modification and enhancement of the ARH Tiger, in Australia, throughout its service life.
In conjunction with its major, local industrial partners, Eurocopter has embraced both the spirit and intent of Australian Industry Involvement for the Air 87 Project as evidenced by;
- Its Australian subsidiary, Australian Aerospace, through which Eurocopter is responsible for overall Program Management and through life support management
- Australian Aerospace assembles the ARH Tiger in Australia and is responsible for helicopter’s through life structural maintenance, as well as delivery of ground crew training devices.
- Major partner, Thales Australia, is responsible for part of up-date and support of the Avionics and Mission systems and will fully develop and manufacture the Ground Mission Planning and Control System.
- Kellogg Brown and Root, together with Thales Training and Simulation, is developing and supporting the training program including the air crew training devices.
- Avalon Systems, with European OEM’s support (EADS), is responsible for development of the Electronic Warfare Mission Support System.
- Others local parts manufacturing for Tiger program in single sourcing, such as:
- Electrical looming with Thales Australia
- Flights controls with Honeywell
- Airframe composites with Daher
The technology transfer to Australia, as part of the ARH Tiger project, is extending beyond the technology niches of Eurocopter and its vendors. EADS, the leading edge technology parent of Eurocopter, whose activities in Australia already cover AIRBUS parts manufacturing, is supporting this wider technology transfer based on its accepted strengths in aeronautics, space systems, and military transport aircraft design and manufacture. These technology transfers are keeping Australia at or better than world standards of defence and civil aerospace technology.
The Daimler Chrysler Group, one of EADS parent companies, currently employees some 1200 people in manufacturing and technology related activities in Australia.
