EADS Socata in Australia
EADS Socata is a subsidiary of the European Aeronautic, Defense and Space Company (EADS NV, www.eads.com), the 3rd largest company in the world and Number One in Europe. EADS leads a number of major European aerospace programs, including Airbus jetliners, Ariane launch vehicles and Eurocopter helicopters.
EADS Socata is the general aviation arm of the company (www.socata.com), manufacturing light aircraft (TB GT & TBM 850) as well as aerostructures and other components for larger aircraft.
EADS Socata production plant is located in Tarbes, near Toulouse in southwest France, the heart of the European aviation industry. Headquarters are at the Le Bourget Airport near Paris.
The company traces its origin back to aviation pioneer Morane-Saulnier, founded in 1911. A total of 17,000 aircraft Morane-Saulnier and Socata aircraft of 94 types have been built since that year.
Today, more than 5,700 Morane-Saulnier and Socata aircraft are in service.
Aircraft in the new TB GT family have already been chosen by both military and civil training organization for a wide range of assignments : ab-initio training, IFR, advanced training, transition to higher-performance aircraft, etc…and more than popular for privates.
Socata produces also the first civilian pressurized turboprop to be certified (1990). The new TBM 850 model with an increase MTOW provides remarkable multimission capabilities, including civil and military pilot training, medical evacuation, instrument calibration, aerial photography freight and much more.
